FOUR FEATURES FOR EVEN GREATER EASE OF USE

By Victoria V. Zykova, Senior Business Development Manager

Easy and uncomplicated operation is crucial for smart glasses to be accepted by employees and to survive successfully in the company. Smart glasses should reliably support their wearers in their work and not present technical challenges.

For this reason, we are constantly working on making our smart glasses even more easy and intuitive to use. Today, we would like to introduce four features that make the VPS 19 better optimized for real-world use, such as remote support on the factory floor or performing training outdoors.

If you prefer to see the features presented in motion, just click on the video below.

FEATURE #1: AUTO-CALIBRATION

Put them on, switch them on, and start working: With the new auto-calibration feature, the smart glasses are ready to use right away. The wearer’s gaze point is captured immediately, without the need to measure the eyes first. This allows your frontline worker to connect within seconds via video stream to centrally located experts who can guide the worker through repairs or maintenance procedures. Thanks to the gaze point display in the stream, the expert can see exactly where the worker is focusing his concentration and send him or her very precise instructions.

Even if the glasses slip when a helmet is put on or the user changes, there is no inaccuracy thanks to auto-calibration and automatic slip compensation. Eye tracking is automatically readjusted.

The auto-calibration is very robust and works just as well in changing light conditions, for example in a brightly lit factory hall or outdoors, as it does in the dark.

FEATURE #2: THE HOT SWAP

Imagine you’re in the middle of a procedure and your smart glasses’ battery runs out. With the hot-swap feature, you can easily change the battery on the fly, without interrupting streaming or recording, or turning the glasses in low-power mode. Power is maintained for at least 10 minutes, giving you time to change the battery.

This is a very handy feature, especially when you start working with smart glasses that may not be fully charged.

FEATURE #3: 4G/LTE MOBILE STREAMING

Not every work environment has WiFi access. In situations where streaming is required outdoors or in large manufacturing facilities, for example, a SIM card can be inserted into the smart unit’s card slot. The smart glasses are then immediately ready for streaming-based applications such as remote support or training with live instructors.

FEATURE #4: LOW BANDWIDTH STREAMING

And another feature for limited connectivity: Even in remote areas and areas with poor network coverage, you can stream videos in good quality with us. If you have a poor Internet connection, simply select the “low bandwidth” mode on the Smart Unit. You will then stream at 375 kilobits per second at 5 frames per second.

Full focus on the task: With the new features, wearers can concentrate even better on their activity without the smart glasses taking up their attention. The technology supports the users and not the other way around.
