PISCATAWAY, NJ – 28 October 2024 – The AR Alliance announces that Viewpointsystem, a leader in the development of advanced eye tracking and gaze tracking solutions, including eye-tracking-based smart glasses, has joined the alliance as an associate member.

Tiny high-end optics, customizable and suitable for series production: Printoptix from Stuttgart and Viewpointsystem from Vienna aim to bring complex micro-optics to market. They focus on outstanding quality at competitive prices using a novel 3D printing process. Their ambitious cooperation project “3DPrintoptixMarket” is supported by the European Innovation Council (EIC) with a grant of 2.5 million euros.

Viewpointsystem has brought a strong new partner on board: global electronics service provider Variosystems is the new EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) partner of the Vienna-based deep-tech company.

The Viennese deep-tech startup Viewpointsystem, the Graz-based mobility technology company AVL List and the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) are contributing their know-how to the development of novel neuromorphic chips. As part of the ambitious EU research project “NimbleAI” they will develop an innovative neuromorphic sensor processing solution.

On 23rd and 24th of November 2022 the 19 project partners from across Europe gathered in Arrasate-Mondragón (Spain) to officially kick-start NimbleAI – the 3-year and 10 M€ research project which will improve energy-efficiency and performance of next-generation neuromorphic chips that sustain event-based vision. Their goal is to create an integral neuromorphic sensing-processing 3D silicon stacked architecture to efficiently run accurate and diverse computer vision algorithms in resource- and area-constrained chips destined to endpoint devices.

As part of a European consortium, Viewpointsystem has been granted funding from the European Defence Fund (EDF) for the research project “Advanced Biometrics In Training and Simulation” (ABITS). The research project will receive €2.23 million in funding, of which Viewpointsystem will be allocated approximately €580.000.

Viewpointsystem makes the “VPS 19” smart glasses even more easy to operate: At Hannover Messe 2022, the new auto-calibration feature will be presented for the first time, allowing the glasses to be ready for use within seconds and can quickly change between users.

Smart glasses can improve medical education and even enable remote hands-on training. The advantages of eye tracking in particular in this context are now shown in a joint study* by the Medical University of Vienna and Leiden University Medical Center.

As the new distributor for Japan, the renowned global sourcing company Okaya will offer Viewpointsystem’s innovative smart glasses solution to their broad network of manufacturing companies in various sectors.

Digital Iris Inside, the new module series from Viewpointsystem, was honored as one of the top products in the “Virtual & Augmented Reality” award category.
